A “covey” is a small group, and empowering and connecting community groups was the inspiration behind Coveys Village. The “village” is of course the collection of individuals and groups that work side by side and together to build a better community. It was also the inspiration behind the unique map navigation features inside the app.
We chose to make Coveys Village entirely funded by our premium members, which means we do not sell advertising or access to your data to cover the costs of running the platform. This also means your feed will always be ad free, your data will never be shared with third party platforms and it will never be made available to train AI models. And yes, even free Explorer members benefit from these protections.

With a free Explorer membership you can set up your full profile, allowing you to Friend and Follow and stay connected by joining the Spaces and Coveys that interest you. You can also take part in Covey chats and even direct chat with your Villager Friends, as long as they initiate the chat. An upgrade to premium Villager membership gives full platform access and means you can post, comment, get full chat features and create Spaces and Coveys. Villagers also have more options for their My Village map customisation. Both free and premium members can access Coveys Village Events to post events and sell tickets. Yes, absolutely. Coveys Village was designed specifically as an alternative to Meta platforms. If you are looking for a socially ethical and environmentally responsible platform for your groups, then we have a limited time offer to migrate your group to a premium Villager membership, free for life. How to redeem your lifetime discount:
- Register for a FREE Explorer membership on desktop or mobile browser (membership changes are not yet available in the app).
- Check that you are logged in, then navigate to “Membership” in the top toolbar menu.
- Choose “Upgrade”, select the Villager (Annual) option and enter the best Founders Covey discount code that is available.

We like to call it “slow”cial media, because your feed is essentially empty when you first join, except for content from Coveys Village Admin and the Coveys Village Visitor Centre to get you started. Your Coveys Village feed is chronological by default, and by default you only see content from approved Friends, Spaces you follow and Coveys you join. This means you have total control over what you see and what you are exposed to.
No AI means we do not use, or support the use of AI to interact in Coveys Village. No AI chatbots, no AI Helpdesk and no AI assistants. Just real people and real communities actually talking with each other (Wow!). We are not anti AI, in fact AI is an incredible tool, but the unnecessary use of AI tools in human communication is not what Coveys Village is about.
It’s by design. Simply by asking members to upgrade to a paid Villager membership before they can post, comment or direct message, works to remove a large portion of those individuals likely to cause online harm. We follow this up with robust site and group moderation tools that are managed by humans, not AI. Finally, by ensuring your feed is only populated by content you have explicitly opted into, and that only your Friends can direct message you, it removes unwanted exposure to content or individuals that you haven’t chosen to interact with.
Coveys Village already runs on 100% carbon offset servers and we already donate 1% of our revenue to Stripe Climate, but we also recently made the decision to NOT follow the AI trend of including AI driven features in our platform that will accelerate the requirement for more data centres. We are also currently developing tools within the platform that will allow you to monitor and manage your online carbon footprint within Coveys Village.
